What Does a Personal Assistant Do?
Duties of a Healthcare Assistant
No two days and no two services are exactly the same.
As a Personal Assistant (PA), you will support individuals to live independently and take part in everyday activities that matter to them. The support provided is guided by the person’s needs, goals and preferences, helping them maintain choice, dignity and control over their daily lives.
Some services involve practical support such as:
- Shopping and errands
- Household tasks and meal preparation
- Attending appointments
- Supporting social activities and hobbies
- Community participation and inclusion
Other services may involve supporting individuals with more complex or changing needs, including people living with progressive conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis (MS) or Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
As a person’s needs evolve, the role of the Personal Assistant may also develop. We therefore look for people who are adaptable, compassionate and willing to learn new skills. Full training, guidance and ongoing support are provided to help you succeed in your role.
